Truck drivers are often accustomed to driving in a variety of less than ideal driving conditions. Heavy traffic, inclement weather and road construction are all factors that can greatly disrupt a truck driver's ability to perform work duties and stay on schedule. To avoid causing or being involved in an accident, it's critical that drivers of large commercial vehicles remain alert, focused and vigilant shen encountering these types of driving conditions.
A firefighter recently filed a personal injury lawsuit against both a truck driver and trucking company for injuries he sustained when the driver's semi-trailer crashed into emergency first responders. The tragic trucking accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on a snowy March evening. First responders, including the plaintiff, had been called to another accident scene along a major interstate when the driver of the semi truck lost control of his vehicle and crashed into nearby emergency workers.
One firefighter was tragically killed in the accident and five others, including the plaintiff, were seriously injured. In the lawsuit that was recently filed, the plaintiff asserts the truck driver was negligent in failing to maintain control of his vehicle and acting in a reckless and negligent manner.
Additionally, the lawsuit contends the defendants are guilty of committing numerous safety violations including failing to maintain updated driving and maintenance records and documentation. The lawsuit also points to potential discrepancies in the truck driver's driving record. The plaintiff in the case is seeking to recover compensation related to permanent injuries he suffered as well as pain and suffering and loss of earning potential.
