We are proud to partner with the Union Township Police Department to raise funds for the addition of a dual purpose canine to the department. The initial cost of the program exceeds $50,000. We have agreed to match all donations up to a total of $2,500 in order to help the department add the canine officer.
The police department proudly serves the residents of Union Township. The addition of a canine would enhance public safety during missing person’s investigations, narcotics detection, fugitive apprehension and crowd control. Canine officers can also aid in the relationship between police and youth in the community. The canine will take part in community functions and local school activities. In addition to the many community benefits, a canine can increase officer safety by providing a timely response during criminal apprehension, high risk areas and structure searches.
