Among many other things-such as being a father, husband, and dedicated attorney-Dallas Hartman is also a philanthropist. Attorney Dallas Hartman has set up three different scholarships-one for him and his wife: the Dallas and Kristina Hartman Trustee Scholarship, one for his firm: the Dallas W. Hartman P.C. Attorneys at Law Trustee Scholarship, and one on behalf of himself: the Dallas W. Hartman P.C. Trustee Scholarship.
Each year in the fall, Penn State Shenango hosts the William P. McDowell Scholarship Dinner. The tradition began in 1999 when Penn State Shenango decided to give special recognition to its scholarship recipients and pay tribute to scholarship donors. This year's 16th annual William P. McDowell Scholarship Dinner was held on Tuesday, 13 October at the Park Inn by Radisson in West Middlesex, PA.
In addition, Attorney Hartman was asked two years ago to be a part of the Leeds Trustee Scholarship appointment, in which he, his family, and his law firm contributed to honor Dr. Fredric M. Leeds for his 42 years of dedicated service to Penn State. The Leeds Scholarship was established from more than a hundred donors who have donated more than $70,000 in Dr. Leeds's honor. Dallas Hartman was a student of Leeds and fondly remembers being inspired by the professor when he attended Penn State.
The opening remarks were given by Steve Hessmann, who is the Director of Development and Alumni Relations. During dinner, the Campus Director and Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Jo Anne Carrick, spoke to attendees. After the scholarships were presented, former scholarship recipient and 2006 graduate Aaron J. Bernstine was introduced as the guest speaker. Hessmann finished the evening with some gratifying closing remarks.
