Ohio policeman injured in pedestrian hit-and-run

Hit-and-run accidents can devastate individuals and their families. Victims are often left seriously injured or worse. Their families can suffer, especially if the victim is the primary source of money. As medical bills add up and missed time at work wreaks havoc on your bank account, you will need a qualified and experienced personal injury attorney to be your advocate in court and during negotiations.

Last Wednesday, a member of the Lake Milton Police Department was struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver. Members of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are currently searching for the culprit. The accident happened at approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday evening along Newton Falls Road.

Police told reporters that the victim, a 40-year-old Ohio native, had just finished giving a traffic ticket along Newton Falls Road when another vehicle sideswiped him and fled the scene. He was standing on the side of the road when he was hit. Police say the patrolman was laying by the side of his cruiser for approximately ten minutes before someone drove past and saw him.

A spokesperson from the Ohio State Highway Patrol said that they do not have much information at this point and that they do not have any witnesses. In addition, no one has called in with any information yet that may lead to an arrest.

The officer was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown and is expected to make a full recovery. If you have any information about what happened, police encourage you to call 330-533-6866. You may remain anonymous if you wish.
