A pedestrian accident involving a New Castle, PA man and a New Castle Transit bus occurred Monday, October 13. The New Castle man was hit by a bus on Garfield Avenue and is said to be in critical condition after suffering head injuries. From the accident scene, he was flown to St. Elizabeth's Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio to receive treatment.

This is not the only example of pedestrians being hit by buses in Lawrence County. In a similar case, a pedestrian was crossing South Jefferson Street at the intersection of South Jefferson and Grove Streets in New Castle, Pennsylvania when she was hit by a New Castle Transit bus making a left turn. The bus driver had his view obstructed by a tractor trailer, causing him to strike the pedestrian. The collision ultimately caused the death of the pedestrian.
