A man from Union City in Erie County will face charges of driving under the influence this week after an accident for which he was responsible leaves a woman in serious condition. The accident took place Saturday evening along Wilkins Road.
The 22-year-old suspect from Union City told police that he was attempting to avoid pot holes in the road when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a guide rail. Upon impact, his 20-year-old female passenger was ejected from the vehicle and seriously hurt. The young woman was Life-Flighted to UPMC Hamot to be treated. The man was arrested for DUI and awaits word of the woman's condition for sentencing.
