Losing a loved one in a car accident is an extremely tragic and difficult time for a family. It's especially tragic when the victim is a young man who hasn't even seen his thirtieth birthday yet. And it's even more difficult to bear when the accident was caused due to the negligence of a reckless driver.
A man from Berks County was killed on Saturday morning when he was struck head-on. The accident happened along PA State Route 422 in Armstrong County's Plumcreek Township.
The victim of the accident, a 27-year-old man from Laureldale, Berks County, was driving his 1995 Ford Escort west along Route 422, just east of Elderton, near the Indiana County border, when another person driving a 1998 Toyota Camry, travelling west, crossed the center double-yellow line and struck the victim head-on.
The victim is said to have died at the scene of the accident. There is no word on the condition of the other driver and he or she was not identified upon initial reporting. There has also been no word on whether or drugs and/or alcohol had anything to do with the accident. PA State Police at the Kittanning barracks say that an investigation is ongoing and that they will not issue an official statement until their analysis is complete.
