A deadly two-vehicle accident in North Beaver Township took the life of an Ohio woman on Saturday evening. The Lawrence County Coroner confirmed that the victim did indeed die at the scene of the crash.
The woman, a 69-year-old from New Middletown in Ohio, was dthe passenger in the car when another vehicle ran a stop sign and smashed into her husband's car. State police reported that the accident took place at the intersection of West Poland Avenue and State Line Road in North Beaver.
Although a full report has not yet been given, police have said that a Jeep sport utility vehicle ran the stop sign at South State Line Road and crashed into the woman and her husband. The departed woman's husband was taken via Life-Flight to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, OH where he was last reported in critical condition.
The driver of the Jeep SUV, a 62-year-old woman from New Bedford, Pennsylvania, was treated at the scene of the accident by first responders and eventually taken to an area hospital, but she was not kept overnight and the extent of her injuries have not yet been reported.
Police are not saying whether or not there was any foul play on behalf of the woman who ran the stop sign other than failing to stop, but they have reported that they are diligently investigating and have not ruled out any possibilities.
