Pennsylvania worker’s legs pinned in accident

Each day many Pittsburgh area residents wake up and head off to their jobs. While most days workers throughout the state of Pennsylvania do their day's work without incident, at times workplace accidents do occur. The nature and severity of these accidents depends in large part upon the type of work one does. Accidents at construction sites can be particularly devastating.

A day's work turned tragic for a Pennsylvania construction worker who was at the job site, earlier this month. The man was injured when a track hoe excavator overturned. When this happened the 36,000 pound piece of machinery pinned the man's legs. The incident occurred at a bridge construction site.

Following the incident it took some time to free the man from under the equipment. After those called to the scene dug him out, he was transported to a hospital for treatment. Though details regarding his condition are unknown, it is easy to see how the injuries to the man's legs could be serious.

A construction worker relies upon his or her body to accomplish many tasks associated with the occupation. When a worker's body is damaged it is not possible to do these tasks. This can leave a construction worker without work during their recovery. At the same time, medical bills associated with the injury are usually rapidly growing. Fortunately in many cases it is possible for the injured worker to obtain workers' compensation benefits to help cover those costs. Under certain circumstances injured workers find that a lawyer can be of assistance.
