We've previously discussed the devastating injuries often suffered by those drivers and passengers involved in accidents with large trucks and commercial vehicles. While the majority of these truck accidents result from an actual collision or crash, large trucks carrying unsecured loads or those that are not properly maintained also pose many dangers.
Semi trucks and tractor trailers often carry heavy loads that may be difficult or awkward to secure. While traveling on highways at high speeds, materials being transported may shift or become unsecured. Likewise, large trucks require regular safety inspections and maintenance checks. When a truck driver or trucking company is negligent in failing to properly maintain a vehicle or ensure a load is properly secured, those drivers and passengers in close proximity to these big rigs are at risk for suffering serious bodily harm or injury.
A man recently filed a lawsuit in relation to injuries he suffered when a wheel and axle flew off of a tractor trailer and hit his car. According to the lawsuit, the accident occurred as the man was driving along a highway when a wheel and axle flew off of a nearby truck, striking the plaintiff's car.
As a result of the accident, the plaintiff asserts he suffered bodily injury and harm. He recently filed a lawsuit in which he is suing the owners of the truck for negligence in failing to properly maintain the vehicle. He is seeking to recover damages related to medical expenses as well as general pain and suffering.
