The life of a promising young Pittsburgh area resident was tragically cut short earlier this week. The 25-year-old woman was involved in a car accident that occurred on Interstate 376. Despite the fact that she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, her injuries were too serious and she sadly died.
According to authorities the woman was a passenger in one of the two vehicles involved in the crash. Reportedly one of those vehicles rear-ended the other as it attempted to change from one lane to the other. The car that was changing lanes was believed to have been speeding.
The force of the impact sent the car that was hit from behind into a guard rail. It then rolled several times before going over the rail and landing off the road. In the midst of the rolling, one person was thrown from the vehicle. It is not clear if the individual who was ejected is the young woman who died.
The deceased was not the only passenger in that car. There were also two young boys, ages 5 and 8, who were injured in the incident. Though the nature and severity of their injuries is not known, they were both taken to a hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment.
All accidents involving automobiles have the potential to end in death. The young woman who died in this crash had just been accepted into a nursing program located at a school in the area. Had she lived, it is possible that she would have treated car accident victims. Instead, those who loved her will be left wondering about what could have been.
