Many Pennsylvania residents are looking for an explanation regarding a tragic event that occurred earlier this week. A building located in Philadelphia collapsed killing six. Fourteen others, who were rescued from the rubble, suffered injuries of various degrees of severity.
The collapse occurred as a construction crew demolitioned a four-story building. As they worked something apparently went wrong that resulted in an outer wall of the building falling the wrong way onto a Salvation Army store housed in a two-story building situated next door. At the time of the mid-morning incident the store was open for business.
While an investigation into the matter should determine how the fatal accident was allowed to happen, workers at a neighboring site indicate the way in which the demolition was being conducted was unsafe. Whether these allegations are true will likely be determined in the course of the that investigation.
In the meantime, the families and loved ones of the six individuals who died in the building collapse are likely reeling. No one expects that someone they love will lose their life unexpectedly or in that manner. In addition to the unbelievable sadness they are probably experiencing, they may also be unsure about how to handle the financial bills that will accrue as a result of the incident. In cases when the person who died contributed significantly to a household income the family may not be sure how bills will be paid going forward.
Because of these issues, it is possible that wrongful death lawsuits will be filed regarding the matter. If successful, the financial issues could be handled in the future.
