Most residents of Western Pennsylvania would likely agree that the brakes in a motor vehicle play an important role in its operation. The inability to stop a vehicle, even when it is travelling a slow speed, can result in an injury producing crash. Accordingly, when defects involving a failed auto component such as this one are uncovered, it is vital that word be spread as quickly as possible and the matter be addressed.
Recently, carmaker Nissan issued a recall of some of its Infiniti JX SUVs and Pathfinders for issues with the brakes. Apparently the brakes on some of these vehicles could be defective and make stopping the vehicles difficult. More specifically, a component of the brake was cast improperly. In situations where the issues with the casting leads to the piece cracking, the brake caliper could fail to make contact with the correct piece. This could in turn cause the braking difficulty. While it is possible that a car accident can occur anytime a car is used, defective brakes could of course increase the possibility of such a thing happening. The brake issue came to light after someone reported an issue with the brakes failing. More than 19,250 vehicles are included in the recall and could encounter the same problem. To try to prevent any accidents from occurring, Nissan plans to replace the parts as needed. Individuals in the Pittsburgh area and beyond who purchased either of the vehicles between December 2, 2013 and January 29, 2013 will likely receive notice of the recall.
