Tricycles the subject of recent recall

With the arrival of spring in the Pittsburgh area it is likely that many children are reveling in the ability to once again play outside without having to bundle up to fight the cold. The snow melting brings with it the chance to get toys out of the garage that have been stored for the winter, such as bicycles, scooters, and for younger children, tricycles. Parents of children who ride a specific tricycle model sold by Huffy should be aware of a recent recall.

Huffy has recalled over 5,000 Slider tricycles that have been determined to a defective product. The reason behind the recall is a problem with the handlebars. Apparently, it is possible that the handlebar could become loose as a child is riding the tricycle. This could in turn lead the rider to lose control of the toy, possibly leading to the child crashing. Clearly injuries could be a result of a crash.

The only place consumers could purchase the tricycles was Toys R Us. They were available for purchase for only a few weeks at the beginning of this year before being pulled from store shelves.

So far, no reports of child injuries have been received by Huffy. Nonetheless, as more and more children take to the sidewalks of Western Pennsylvania, it is possible that without a recall, accident producing tricycle accidents could occur. Should any injuries be caused as a result of this product defect it is possible that a products liability lawsuit could be filed regarding the matter.
