Air bag issues prompt automobile recalls

Automobile makers throughout the world take steps with each model to make their vehicles safe for its occupants. Many of these safety features, such as airbags, are standard throughout the industry. Each day throughout the Pittsburgh area individuals who are involved in motor vehicle accidents are saved by these airbags. These lives that are saved illustrate how effective these safety features can be.

Recently, four major carmakers issued a recall of their cars due to issues with airbags. The defective auto product could cause an injury to the person riding in the front passenger seat, because the airbags located there could deploy with too much pressure. The pressure could lead to a rupture of the inflator casing. At least two of the automakers have received reports of issues with the way in which the airbag deployed.

The carmakers involved in the recall are Honda, Mazda, Nissan and Toyota. Honda and Toyota are recalling the most cars at 1.1 million and 1.7 million respectively. Mazda accounts for 45,000 cars and Nissan, 480,000. The majority of the vehicles involved in the recall are from the years between 2001 and 2003.

While thus far, it does not appear that anyone has been hurt due to problem, because it is a possibility, the recall has been issued. Should anyone suffer a serious injury as a result of the defective car part, that individual may decide to file a products liability lawsuit. Though often a complicated legal process, for someone who has been injured or lost a loved one due to a defective product, a successful case can be just what is needed to make life easier.
