Owners of certain cars are being warned about the possibility of a fire breaking out. These individuals are being instructed to not drive their Dodge Challengers until the fire hazard is addressed. The issue does not only appear to exist when the car is being driven. A fire could also apparently start even while the vehicle is parked. The vehicles involved have V-6 engines.
The issue potentially leading the fires to break out is a problem with the wiring. In some situations the wiring can short circuit. Approximately 2,500 cars could be at risk for a fire breaking out. All of the vehicles potentially affected were manufactured the last part of 2012 and the first few weeks of January. So far, six fires have been confirmed in the vehicles due to the auto defect.
At this point it does not appear that anyone has been injured in a fire. This is fortunate since burn injuries that can result from fire can be extremely painful. The recovery period can be long and result in scars that will never go away. When someone is hurt in a fire that broke out in an automobile because of a defective auto part, that person may find that filing a products liability lawsuit is a worthwhile endeavor.
Because there are many elements to a products liability lawsuit, it can be complex. Nonetheless, when someone has been seriously injured due to a defective product, it can be the best course of action. If successful, it would provide a financial cushion to the injure person which could come in handy, particularly if that person faces a future of medical bills.
