As the winter weather gives way to warmer temperatures, many Ohio residents start to think about summer and the activities that come with warm weather. For those who own or enjoy boats, the prospect of gliding through the water is just around the corner. While boating is an enjoyable recreational activity enjoyed by many Ohio residents, it also presents dangers.
One man recently filed a lawsuit related to serious injuries he sustained in 2011 boating accident. The man, who worked as an engine repair technician, was traveling aboard a transport boat en route to work on the engine of a larger vessel which was stalled in open water.
While being transported upon the smaller boat, the man asserts he sustained numerous injures as a result of the boat driver's negligent acts and reckless driving. Traveling at excessive speeds, the man claims he was thrown from his seat while aboard the boat. As a result, he hit his head and was knocked unconscious.
As a result of the boat driver's negligent and reckless behavior, the man suffered painful and debilitating injuries including a compression spinal fracture. He was forced to incur thousands of dollars in medical bills and take time off of work. What's more, he is now forced to deal with a painful and permanent disability that will likely cause him to suffer additional future pain and suffering. The man is seeking compensation related to medical bills, lost wages and legal fees.
Boating accidents such as this one are 100 percent preventable. Ohio residents who have suffered injuries due to the negligent and reckless actions of another boater would be wise to consult with a legal professional. A personal injury lawsuit may be an appropriate remedy to help recover compensation related to medical costs, lost wages and pain and suffering.
