Each year, hundreds of car and truck accidents occur throughout Ohio on its miles of rural highways and roads. Often, cars and trucks traveling along these less-congested roads fail to abide by safe driving laws. One recent crash involving a car and semi truck proves how potentially dangerous such accidents can be.
At around 6 p.m. on a week day evening, a 58-year-old man was driving his car along a two-lane highway. While traveling along, the car came upon a semi truck that was attempting to back into a parking lot off of the highway. The 58-year-old driver was unable to stop in time and crashed into the semi truck.
A 57-year-old female passenger in the car sustained serious injuries. She was transported via helicopter to an emergency medical facility. The 58-year-old male driver of the car also sustained multiple injuries. He was taken by first responders to a nearby hospital. The 51-year-old driver of the semi truck was not injured in the collision accident.
While specific details pertaining to the car and truck collision are not known, it's clear that the truck driver was negligent in causing this accident. Due to their size and mobility limitations, it can be challenging to drive large trucks or commercial vehicles. Properly trained truck drivers, however, should have the necessary driving skills and experience to safely maneuver such vehicles without endangering the lives of other drivers.
Thankfully in this specific case it appears as though both occupants of the car involved in the collision with the truck will live. Both, however, will likely face a long road to recovery which includes thousands of dollars in medical bills, lost wages and ongoing rehabilitation costs.
