Motor vehicle accidents involving large semi trucks and commercial vehicles are especially dangerous. Oftentimes, these types of truck accidents result in drivers and occupants sustaining serious and in some cases even fatal injuries.
Ohio State Police are investigating a recent crash in which a semi truck and street sweeper apparently collided. The accident occurred under darkness of the early morning hours along Ohio's I-75 when the semi truck struck the back of the commercial street sweeping vehicle.
According to the driver of the semi truck, he was traveling within the speed limit around 65 mph when he came around a corner and encountered the street sweeping vehicle. Police estimate the street sweeping vehicle was traveling around 25 mph as the vehicle's driver attempted to merge onto the Interstate.
At this time, the semi driver contends he had little to no time to react and crashed into the back of the street sweeper. The force of the collision forced the two vehicles off the road, causing both trucks to overturn in a nearby ditch.
Upon arrival on the scene, first responders noted the driver of the street sweeper sustained minor injuries for which he sought medical attention. The driver of the semi truck was not injured and did not require medical treatment.
In this case, the driver of the semi truck is negligent in causing the accident. Thankfully, it appears as though the driver of the street sweeper only sustained minor injuries. Even seemingly minor injuries, however, can often have an adverse and long-lasting impact on an individual's physical health and wellbeing.
