No one in Pittsburgh is prepared to receive the call that a loved one has been involved in a motor vehicle accident. This is particularly true when the loved ones are children. This is what one immediately thinks about when there is news of a school bus accident.
Recently mini school bus was involved in a crash with a commuter bus in New Jersey. The collision occurred when the commuter bus rear ended the mini bus as it waited to make a right turn. The force of the impact knocked the mini bus onto its side.
After pushing the mini bus out of the way the commuter bus continued on and crashed into a tree. At the time, there were a total of 40 passengers on the commuter bus. Two individuals, one of whom was behind the wheel, suffered serious injuries in the incident. Another 15 reportedly sustained less serious injuries but were also taken to area medical providers for treatment.
Fortunately, at the time of the collision there were no children on the bus. The school bus driver was not alone however. An aide was also on board. Neither of them was seriously hurt.
Just what caused the commuter bus to hit the smaller mini bus is not currently known. It is likely that the cause will be determined in the course of the investigation into the matter that has been commenced. Whatever the outcome of the investigation with so many people suffering injuries in the crash it is highly likely that personal injury lawsuits will be filed.
