For many throughout the nation there is no such thing as a grilling season. These individuals, some of whom reside in the state of Pennsylvania, will use their propane gas grills year round. Those individuals may think twice and take extra precautions after the story that recently broke about the serious burns anchor Hannah Storm suffered when she attempted to re-light her propane grill after it went out.
The incident occurred this past December at Storm's home. When, after first turning off the grill, she restarted it, an explosion occurred. The explosion led to what she described as a wall of fire that burned her chest, neck, face and left hand. Approximately half of her hair was burned from her head. Since the incident she has been receiving treatment for the first degree burns.
Storm was using the grill correctly when the incident occurred. When something like this happens to any consumer it can be extremely frustrating. Most assume that the proper use of a product will not lead to any type of injury, particularly those that are very serious. Sadly these incidents occur all too often. Fortunately, there is something that can be done. Individuals injured through the use of a defective product can seek monetary damages for their injuries from entities such as the manufacturer and seller.
Though likely still in a lot of pain, Storm is lucky. The outcome of this incident could have been much worse. While it is unclear if she will take any legal action, she has indicated that she will do what she can to inform others of the dangers associated with the use of propane grills.
