Every car accident has the potential to result in injuries. The more vehicles involved, the greater the risk that more people will be hurt. Earlier this month an accident involving 4 vehicles resulted in injuries to three people. The incident took place on Route 366 in a community located outside of Pittsburgh.
According to a police officer who responded to the car accident call, the chain-reaction accident commenced when the driver of a SUV lost control of the vehicle as it travelled southeast on Route 366 toward Route 380. That loss of control led the SUV to run into a minivan that was headed toward it. It hit two additional vehicles as it spun out before rolling.
Two of the three who were injured in the afternoon accident were transported via helicopter to hospitals. The nature of their injuries is not known but they were reportedly not serious enough to be considered life-threatening.
Exactly what caused the driver of the SUV to lose control of the vehicle is not yet known. This will most likely be determined in the investigation being conducted into the incident. Authorities indicate it is possible that criminal charges could be filed.
Depending on who was injured and how severely, it is possible that personal injury lawsuits could be forthcoming as well. This would particularly be true if someone was forced to miss work while he or she healed. In successful cases money damages can be recovered for lost wages, as well as pain and suffering.
