Accidents involving or caused by vehicles that are stopped or stalled along the highway often result in those individuals involved sustaining serious and even fatal injuries. A 36-year-old Ohio man recently died in a rollover accident while attempting to avoid a stopped vehicle along a stretch of Ohio's Interstate 275.
The fatal accident occurred when the 2006 Hummer H3 driven by the 36-year-old man came upon a car that was stopped in the Interstate's center lane. In an effort to avoid crashing into the stopped car, the 36-year-old attempted to maneuver his vehicle around the stopped car.
The 36-year-old lost control of the Hummer vehicle which then proceeded to roll over. The 36-year-old driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and he was ejected from his vehicle. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
The man's seven-year-old son was a passenger in the Hummer vehicle at the time of the rollover crash. He sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
This tragic accident serves as a reminder of the importance of wearing a seatbelt. In order to protect against series injury and death if involved in an accident, Ohio drivers and passengers would be wise to always wear a seatbelt.
Each year, seatbelts saves hundreds of thousands of lives. Individuals who are involved in rollover accidents often die as a result of being ejected from the vehicle in which they are traveling. Wearing a seatbelt, however, greatly improves an individual's chances of surviving a rollover accident.
Likewise, this accident proves the dangers of stopping along any highway or Interstate. While the conditions of the stopped vehicle is not clear, this fatal accident would likely not have occurred had the driver moved the car to the right shoulder of the Interstate.
