One model in the Master Forge Gas Grill lineup is being recalled by the manufacturer because of potential fires. These grills are sold exclusively at Lowe's stores. The one model facing this potential risk is GD4825.
Sold in Pittsburgh and nationwide, this potentially defective product requires careful installation. Should the grill owner improperly install and assemble this device, the "hose connecting the gas tank and regulator to the burner control can melt and rupture the grill when lit."
As you can imagine, a fire can ensue, possibly causing serious burns to consumers. Thankfully, to date, no injuries have been reported. However, the manufacturer, Guangdong Vanward Electric Co., Ltd of China, is recalling 37,000 grills, after receiving two reports of melted hoses.
Anyone owning this model should stop using it immediately. Owners should inspect these connections to ensure that the gas hose is installed properly. Consumers should also contact the manufacturer to obtain revised installation instructions, along with a warning label to put on the grill. The label illustrates how to correctly install the hose and regulator.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) notes that these grills have a "single-door base" with "Master Forge" written on the grill hood. The model number GD4825 is found on a label inside the grill base door. The instructions, which apparently lack clarity, note "Item 94227" written on the pamphlet cover.
Do you own a gas grill which you assembled yourself? Did you properly install the connections? Are you careful to check your connections regularly?
