After a nationwide lull, construction projects are once again beginning to pick up. This is true not only in the state of Pennsylvania, but throughout the nation as well. With the increase in the number of construction sites comes an increase in the number of potential construction site accidents.
One location in Pennsylvania where construction work is being conducted is on the campus of Penn State. Work is being done on what will be the Pegula Ice Arena. Earlier this week, one of the men working at that construction site was injured in a fall. The man is employed by Cives Steel Company which has been subcontracted by Mortenson Construction, the main contractor on the project.
While it is not clear how far the man fell or what caused him to fall, it is known that at the time of the incident he was doing some iron work. As a result of the fall the man was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center to receive treatment. The nature and extent of his injuries is not known.
Whatever the nature of the man's injuries, should he accrue large medical bills or need a lot of time to recover, it is highly likely he will seek workers' compensation benefits. These benefits are often available to workers to cover things such as lost wages and medical bills, when the injury the worker sustained was incurred while he or she was working.
An injured worker must apply for these benefits. Because they are sometimes initially declined, it is often a good idea to seek the assistance of a workers' compensation attorney.
