Car accidents are a common occurrence in cities throughout the country, including Pittsburgh. Each weekday individuals take to the road in cars and buses to get to their jobs located there. With all of the traffic in the downtown portion of the city during the week, it is inevitable that at some point an accident will take place there.
Late last month a motor vehicle accident involving a car and a bus occurred. The morning accident, which occurred a little before 9:00 a.m., took place where of Fifth Avenue and Moultrie Street intersect. Witnesses to the incident said the car was attempting to make a turn from one street onto the other when it entered the path of the PAT bus. Despite the bus driver's attempt to avoid the crash, the vehicles nonetheless collided.
Immediately following the crash, the occupants of the car, two men, got out of the car and ran away. At this point it is unknown what caused the two to so quickly leave the scene. If they were injured at all, it was likely not too seriously.
Several occupants of the bus were hurt in the accident, the severity however is unknown. What is known is that a minimum of three of the people were hurt badly enough that they needed to be taken to the hospital.
Pittsburgh authorities take hit-and-run accidents very seriously. Should the men who were in the car that hit the bus be located, they will likely face some sort of criminal charge. Injured individuals could decide to file personal injury lawsuits as well.
