This blog has written extensively about the victims of commercial truck accidents. One of the first things people think when they hear about truck accidents is that a truck driver carelessly caused an accident that injured and killed other drivers. But what about the truck driver? What happens when he is involved in an accident that isn't his fault?
This could be the case for an Amelia, Ohio, man, who died this week while driving a dump truck. The commercial vehicle accident happened on Interstate 275 in Sharonville, Ohio. The 35-year-old driver of the dump truck was killed in the accident.
According to Sharonville police, a tire on the truck blew, causing the driver to lose control of the truck. The truck reportedly hit a light pole and concrete wall. The impact was so violent that the driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the truck.
Going by the information available, the truck driver does not appear to be responsible for the crash. Fortunately no one else was injured in the accident, but an out-of-control dump truck barreling down a busy interstate could have caused much more damage and injuries.
The driver's family will want to know why the tire blew out on the truck. Was it because there was too much weight in the truck? Was there an obstruction in the road? Had the truck not been given the proper maintenance by the man's employer? Could there have been a manufacturing defect with the tire? There are several parties that could be held liable for the accident after a thorough investigation.
