According to Huffington Post article posted on August 14, 2102, "Radiology technician David Kwiatkowski was a few weeks into a temporary job at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center-Presbyterian in 2008 when a co-worker accused him of lifting a syringe containing an addictive painkiller from an operating room and sticking it down his pants." The article, titled "Hepatitis C Outbreak: Arrest Of Medical Technician David Kwiatkowski Shows Flaws In System," reports alleged wrongdoing my Mr. David Kwiatkowski as he has been suspected of swiping syringes of fentanyl and leaving them infected with the hepatitis C virus. Mr. Kwiatkowski allegedly had a drug problem and was illegally using syringes on himself. Mr. Kwiatkowski is under investigation and may face charges for infecting patients in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Maryland, Michigan, Arizona, and Kansas. Mr. Kwiatkowski was employed at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA where he faced similar allegations.
