Pedestrian seriously injured in Westmoreland County crash

Arguably all car accidents are terrible occurrences, however most would agree that those that are hit and runs are even worse. It is one thing for careless behavior to lead to a crash but entirely something else for someone involved in such an incident to flee the scene, potentially leaving behind people who are seriously injured.

Recently, a 23-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in one such car accident. The incident occurred early in the morning, around 2:00 a.m., when the young person was standing outside of two stopped vehicles situated on Motordrome Road. As the victim stood there, a third motor car approached the scene after navigating a curve described as blind. When that vehicle was unable to stop, it struck one of the stopped cars along with the pedestrian.

Immediately following the incident, one of the cars that had been stopped before the third car arrived, left the scene.

The injuries the pedestrian sustained in the crash were characterized as major. Accordingly, the victim was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital via a helicopter. Perhaps not surprisingly, it does not appear that anyone in the cars was injured.

Recovering from serious injuries such as those inflicted in this incident can take a long time. During that period, depending on the nature of the injuries, it is likely that the pedestrian will not be able to work. In addition, medical bills will probably mount. To help cover those and other related expenses, it is not uncommon for an injured individual to file a personal injury lawsuit against the party who caused the accident. Whether that will happen in this case, remains to be seen.
