Motorcyclist dies after collision near Rootstown

A motorcyclist who was involved in a crash near Rootstown on Saturday night had died.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the motorcycle accident happened just west of Marks Avenue shortly before 9 p.m. The 26-year-old motorcyclist was traveling east on Tallmadge Road at the time, while the 67-year-old truck driver was travelling west on that same road. The two collided when the truck driver turned into a driveway, placing his vehicle directly in the path of the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist, a resident of Kent, had to be taken to Akron City Hospital. Doctors did all they could, but they were not able to save him and he died on Wednesday. The driver, who lives in Rootstown, was not hurt.

The motorcyclists' death is the third such fatality in Portage County in 2012 and the eighth traffic fatality overall, according to the highway patrol.

The official investigation into the accident is still ongoing, so it would be premature to assign fault to either party. Regardless, this man's death shows once again just how swiftly tragedy can strike.

Many people who are hurt while driving choose to file a personal injury lawsuit afterwards in the hopes of being reimbursed for their medical expenses and for the wages they lost when they could not work. Some also are able to obtain compensation for their pain and suffering. If you are ever hurt in a car, truck or motorcycle accident, consider this possible and speak to an attorney if you decide it is the right move to take.
