Pedestrian dies after being hit by parked car in Beaver Falls

The husband of a woman who was killed in what most would consider a freak accident is likely reeling at the turn of events. The man had just dropped his wife off in front of a pizza place located in the 1800 block of Seventh Avenue in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, when she was struck by another vehicle.

Interestingly, the car that hit the 67-year-old woman in the fatal accident was unoccupied and had been parked along the side of the road. It collided with her when it was hit by another car that was apparently out of control. In addition to hitting the parked car, the out of control vehicle also hit the car from which the woman had just exited. Before hitting the stationary vehicles, the out of control vehicle crossed the road's centerline.

The injured woman was transported via helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian hospital. It was there that she sadly died, around 3:00 a.m., almost five hours after the accident. The woman's death is particularly tragic since at the time of the incident, neither the woman who died nor her husband appeared to have been doing anything wrong.

The woman who was behind the wheel of the vehicle that hit the two cars said she lost control of her car after experiencing a mechanical problem of some sort. Whether this is in fact the cause of the accident will likely be determined in an investigation. If there was a problem with the vehicle, the woman's husband may file a products liability lawsuit against the car maker. If, on the other hand, the loss of control was due to something the woman did, he could file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver.
