Upon welcoming a baby into the world parents in Pittsburgh are bombarded with accessories commonly used while raising children. Along with the cribs, play yards and car seats, high chairs play an important role. As is the case with all of these products, there are a variety of models to choose from. Recently, a convertible high chair was recalled because it is a defective product.
The problem with Evenflo's convertible high chair is that the tray that the children eat off of and what helps to hold them in, can become unattached. When this happens, children sitting in the chair have fallen out. So far, out of 18 reports of the tray coming off, a total of eight children have fallen, in some cases, resulting in bruises and bumps.
As is common in recalls, anyone who owns, and is using the product is being instructed to stop using the high chair. Unlike some recalls however, rather than returning the product to the retailer from which it was purchased, consumers are being provided information on how to obtain a new tray, free of charge.
The high chair involved in this recall is likely popular with consumers. This is because in addition to providing a seat for babies who are ready to sit up and eat food , it also transforms into both a table and chair the appropriate size for toddlers. It is fortunate that thus far the injuries children have suffered as a result of the defective product are minor. Most would agree however that any injuries to children are a problem, regardless of the severity.
