Too many drivers forget about motorcycle riders being on the road, cut them off in traffic or do not yield to them the right of way. A recent Ohio fatal motorcycle accident likely came about because of a van crossing three lanes of traffic while trying to make a turn and then colliding directly with the motorcycle.
The victim of the accident was a 31-year old man. The accident occurred at 3:00 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon. One other motorcyclist had to take actions to avoid a collision.
It has become increasingly obvious that inattention to the presence of motorcycles on the road presents another danger that can be equally deadly. Too many motorcycle fatalities have occurred because another driver did not see the motorcycle approach or simply did not look at all.
Lawyers experienced in personal injury work can hold drivers that ignore the rights of motorcycles accountable. Such lawsuits may at least put drivers on alert that they do not own the road.
Drivers must be educated that motorcycle riders and their passengers have the same rights as drivers concerning right-of-way on the roads. What may result in minimum property damage when the accident results two cars in a crash will have a completely different result when one of the vehicles involved in the accident happens to be a motorcycle.
Here we have a 31-year old rider killed possibly due to the carelessness or inattention of someone else on the road. There is practically no such thing as a minor motorcycle crash as such accidents can result in head injuries, paralysis and death.
