Drivers of smaller vans and passenger cars rarely have a shot at evading catastrophic injury or even death when they are confronted with a trucking accident. A recently departed 93-year-old man from Ohio was driving a van on the interstate when for unknown reasons he stopped in a driving lane. According to an autopsy of the 93-year-old victim, he died from injuries suffered after a semitrailer tractor truck collided with his van.

Reportedly, the truck saw that the van was stopped but could not break in time. According to Ohio police, no tickets have presently been issued. The factors surrounding this accident are largely unknown and absolutely unfortunate.

Although no tickets have been issued, the truck could have been following too closely, leaving little room for adequately breaking in time. There is no further word regarding a pending investigation and a possibility of assigning liability.

Often, in situations like this fatal trucking accident, the truck driver was negligent and as such the victim’s family could be entitled to compensation to cover for the lost wages and immense suffering.

Liability can come in several forms, be it an exploding tire, falling debris, toxic spills or unsecure loads. Regardless of the cause, families that are in pain because a loved one has been taken too soon due to a commercial vehicle accident would do well to seek their deserved compensation.
