Pennsylvania construction worker injured in fall from ladder

Earlier this month a construction worker from Pennsylvania was injured when he fell off a ladder. At the time of the construction accident, he was working on the façade of a car dealership. The drop from the ladder to the ground was at least 10 feet.

When the ladder fell, the man, who is employed by Oliver Construction, told emergency responders that he was in the process of taking measurements of the façade. Though specifics about his injuries are unknown, they were serious enough to warrant him being transported by helicopter to a hospital.

It is likely that the man will seek workers' compensation benefits due to the injuries he sustained. This is not uncommon as companies in the state of Pennsylvania are required to purchase a workers' compensation policy. To obtain these benefits the injured employee must file a workers' compensation claim. Once secured, things such as medical bills and lost wages may be covered.

Workers' compensation benefits are not guaranteed. This is because filing the claim can be complicated. For instance, things such as medical records must be well organized and support the injured party's claim. Because of the necessity that everything be handled in such a thorough manner, these claims are often initially denied.

It is important for an injured worker to make sure that the maximum amount of benefits is attained. As one may expect it is not always easy to determine what that amount actually is. Accordingly, it may be beneficial for a worker who has been injured to consult a Pennsylvania workers' compensation lawyer regarding the matter.
