As everyone knows, car accidents occur on a regular basis throughout the country. These accidents happen for a variety of reasons. One of the prevalent reasons in the United States, including the state of Pennsylvania, is drivers who are intoxicated. Most would agree that drunk driving accidents account for far too many motor vehicle accidents. This is frustrating to many since they are completely avoidable.
Brent Celek, tight end for the Philadelphia Eagles was reportedly recently involved in one such accident when the car in which he was a passenger crashed on a highway off-ramp in the early morning hours. The off-ramp where the accident occurred was located close to the South Philadelphia stadium where the team plays.
The vehicle he was riding in apparently ran into a concrete barrier after first spinning out. According to the police, when it happened, the driver of the vehicle was going too fast.
After the accident, police conducted field sobriety tests on the driver. He was arrested and charged with drunk driving after he reportedly failed the tests.
Not every car accident results in injuries to the people involved. For those who are injured, the extent of the injuries varies widely. Some people walk away with only minor bumps and bruises. Other times people are much more seriously hurt with brain injuries or injuries to the spine. In the most catastrophic cases, people die.
Brent Celek, and the other individuals involved in this accident were lucky. Fortunately no one was hurt in the drunk driving crash.
