The recall of a product is always troubling for Pennsylvania residents. This is especially true when the defective product being recalled is one that is routinely used in the care of children.

Popular home furnishing store IKEA recently voluntarily recalled high chairs that were sold throughout the United States and Canada. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall was due to the existence of a falling hazard. This hazard exists despite the chair being equip with a restraint buckle.

The specific line of high chair being recalled is known as the "Antilop." The plastic chair comes in three different colors, blue, red and white and the silver metal legs are detachable. It has been recalled because of eight reports of the restraint buckle opening when it is not supposed to. Of these reports, three of them resulted in children falling and sustaining minor injuries.

A total of close to 169,000 of the chairs were sold throughout the two counties. Of that amount, around 133,000 were sold in the U.S. between August 2006 and January 2010. They retailed for $20.

Ikea is offering owners of the chair free seat restraint replacements. In the U.S., the CPSC is urging people to stop using the seat until the replacement is made.
