While we all like to think we are safe while at work, this is not always the case. Earlier this month we wrote about two on the job accidents that resulted in death. Another work related death has occurred in Pennsylvania this month, this time in Canton Township.

The fatal accident took place at Brookman Iron and Metals. The business owner, a 75-year-old man, was reportedly using a torch at the time. It appears he was using the torch to cut a steel bucket. As he did so, a big chunk of the bucket fell and crushed him resulting in his death.

When someone unexpectedly dies it is not uncommon for expenses to quickly mount. For most loved ones of the deceased, this adds insult to injury.

Though the coroner ruled the death in this case an accident, this is not always the case in workplace deaths. When fatal accidents occur as the result of another person's negligence, the loved ones left behind may be able to seek financial compensation for the death. This may be accomplished through a wrongful death lawsuit.

In addition to potentially providing financial compensation, the process of filing this civil lawsuit may ultimately provide closure to the matter. While it will not erase the loss, it may provide the necessary resources to make it easier to work through the difficult time and move on with one's life.
