SEPTA train incident results in minor injuries to woman

Able to move large groups of people in an efficient manner, various forms of mass transportation are relied upon by residents throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Everyday buses and trains transport people from one point to another. In most cases passengers are delivered to their destination unscathed. While precautions are routinely taken to ensure the safety of passengers, in some situations however, people are injured.

A Pennsylvania woman is fortunate to be alive and recovering from only minor injuries sustained when she fell under a moving train. According to the woman she was exiting a Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority train that had stopped at the Eddystone station when it began to move. Before she was able to get to the platform, she fell between it and the train. She said the wheels on the train were only inches from her face as the vehicle moved over her.

Accidents such as this often result in serious injuries such as broken bones, spinal injuries, severed limbs and sometimes even death. After the accident the woman was transported to a hospital where she was checked over. While she certainly received a scare, fortunately she walked away with only bruises and a few bumps.

Officials with SEPTA have indicated a conductor was supposed to have been on the platform as passengers disembarked. This is to make sure everyone trying to exit the train is off before it begins to move. The incident is under investigation to determine if there was a breakdown in procedure.
