While reading and hearing about motor vehicle accidents no doubt becomes commonplace for those who regularly read or tune into news broadcasts, for those involved in such accidents, it is anything but. Uncertainty about one's recovery and dealing with insurance companies are things few people want to have to deal with.
Two Altoona residents are dealing with those very things now after being involved in an accident in Kittanning Township earlier this month. The individuals, a 53-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were taken to Armstrong County Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
As they attempted to make a turn, their Dodge Caravan was reportedly rear ended by a Mitsubishi Truck driven by a 25-year-old man from Texas. The force of the collision caused the minivan to hit the guard rail located on the opposite side of the road after crossing the centerline. There it was hit again, this time head-on, by a GMC suburban. The driver of that vehicle was a 35-year-old man. His vehicle was then struck by a Chevrolet truck.
In chain reaction accidents such as this there is the potential for many people to be injured. Fortunately, besides the couple in the minivan, it appears that no one else involved in this accident was hurt.
Though the extent of the injuries is not known, it is possible that the couple from Altoona will file personal injury lawsuits to try to recover financial compensation for their injuries. In these civil cases it may be possible to get money to cover a variety of things including medical bills and lost wages.
