Each day a person goes to work it is assumed that he or she will return home at the end of a hard day's work safe and sound. Unfortunately, workers throughout Pennsylvania are regularly injured on-the-job. The extent of the injuries sustained by workers varies from instance to instance. In worst case scenarios the injuries lead to death.
A construction worker in Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, died as a result of an on-the-job injury this past week. The man, a 21-year-old who may be from Kyrgyzstan, was working at a construction site located at 814 Wood St., when the aluminum ladder he was using touched high-voltage power lines. At the time of the accident he was cleaning up the job site. Two other men were injured at the accident site located at the Faith Alliance Church. The accident occurred around 7:45 p.m.
The three injured workers were transported to Mercy and Latrobe hospitals. The 21-year-old died at the Excela Health Latrobe Hospital located in Westmoreland County later than night. The injuries and condition of the other two workers is currently unknown.
The accident is under investigation by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), state troopers and the Westmoreland County coroner's office.
An on-the-job death is unexpected and tragic. The emotional toll it can take on family members and loved ones can be hard to recover from. In some cases filing a wrongful death lawsuit can ease the pain. It will not bring the lost person back but it may provide closure and compensation to ensure financial concerns will not hamper the recovery process. These types of cases can be complicated so it is important to seek assistance in a timely manner.
