Teenage daughter of Pittsburgh tycoon injured in car accident

The teenage daughter of a successful Pittsburgh businessman was seriously hurt in a tragic car accident last weekend. The 16-year-old and four of her friends were injured when they got into a car accident late Saturday night in the Nemacolin Woods.

The girl was in a car with five other friends when the accident occurred around 11 p.m. Saturday. It happened on the grounds of Nemacolin Woodlands, a resort owned by the girls' father.

The 16-year-old girl remains hospitalized in Morgantown, West Virginia. Her exact condition and the injuries she sustained have not been publicly released, though it is known that two of the five teenagers hurt in the crash were critically injured. The sixth teenager apparently escaped the accident unscathed.

Police have not identified the other teenagers involved in the accident, other than to say that the driver was a teenage male who has been cited in connection with the incident. All told, there were two boys and four girls in the car. Authorities have not said whether the teens were speeding, but initial reports suggest alcohol may have been a factor that led to the crash.

The girls' father owns 84 Lumber, a prosperous building- and home-supply company.

It is still too soon after the accident for anyone to think about anything other than the injured teens' well-being. However, once the dust settles, the families of the injured teens may choose to work with an attorney and attempt to recover the money they had to spend on medical care. It is possible they could pursue a claim against the boy who was driving, if it was determined he was at fault.
