A fatal motorcycle accident broke up a Sunday afternoon of riding for one group of motorcycle riders in eastern Pennsylvania. The group of ten motorcyclists was stopped on Route 125 between Donaldson and Good Spring when another unknown rider entered the scene. Though the investigation is ongoing aggressive driving and speed are likely factors to the cause of the motorcycle crash.

The group of ten motorcyclists was gathered on Route 124 near Good Spring Creek outside of Donaldson on Sunday afternoon. As the group was hanging-out another motorcyclist who was not a part of the group approached the gathering around 2:30 p.m. According to the group of riders, the single motorcyclist went down the road and turned around to complete a “speed run.” During the speed run the solo motorcyclist approached the group at a high rate of speed.

As the solo rider approached the group, he began to wobble and lost control of his bike. Someone yelled for the group of bikers to get out of the way but one motorcyclist was not able to get off his bike as the approaching motorcyclist crashed into the parked group of bikes. The approaching rider was tossed from his motorcycle, hit a sign and a steel pole and landed in the woods nearby.

The debris of the approaching motorcyclist’s bike was strewn across the road with the fuel tank of the bike lying on fire 15 feet away from the point of impact. The approaching motorcyclist did not survive the accident and the rider who was hit was taken to a nearby hospital. The extent of the rider’s injuries were not released.

The local fire chief said the area where the motorcycle accident occurred has been the site of motorcycle drag races in the past.
