Car accident near Pittsburgh injures two young girls

A car accident in a Pittsburgh suburb recently sent two young girls to the hospital.

The car accident occurred in Penn Hills when an 18-year-old driver who did not have her driver's license crashed through a fence and ran into two girls.

One girl, who is 11 years old, was taken to an area children's hospital with serious injuries. She was dragged underneath the vehicle until it stopped, investigators said. Her present condition is not known. The girl's 12-year-old companion had her foot run over in the accident and also needed medical treatment.

The accident occurred where Mount Carmel Road meets Aber Road.

The driver told police that her foot got caught on the accelerator and she could not stop. She did not offer an explanation for why she was driving the SUV even though she does not have a license. A police officer told a reporter that the woman is "trying to say it was the car's fault."

Authorities have said the woman will face charges, but have not announced the exact nature of those charges.

This was likely a scary incident for the families of the girls who were injured. Who could have predicted such a thing would happen? Once the girls have fully recovered, her family might explore its options by speaking with an attorney who regularly handles car accident cases. The girls in this case appear totally innocent, so it is only fair that whomever caused the accident should pay for necessary medical treatment and pain and suffering.
