In several previous posts we have written about the dangers associated with teen drivers throughout the nation. Sadly three Pennsylvania teens were killed earlier this month when the SUV in which they were occupants was involved in an accident.

The afternoon crash occurred on Interstate 79 at the Ruff Creek exit when the SUV, which was travelling north, left the road, crossed the median and struck two motor vehicles that were travelling in the opposite direction on the same road. Before hitting a motorcycle, the SUV first hit a camper.

As mentioned above the crash was a fatal one. With the death of the three 18-year-old men, half of the occupants of the SUV died. In addition, a 47-year-old man on the motorcycle was killed. Another four individuals, three from the SUV and a woman who was riding as a passenger on the motorcycle, were hurt. All were taken to hospitals for treatment of what do not appear to be life-threatening injuries.

As is often the case in these all too common types of motor vehicle accidents, it is not clear what caused the SUV to leave the road on which it was travelling. The crash is being investigated. Though there is likely an assumption that it was due to something one of the teens was doing in the SUV, without further information it is hard to say. What can be said is that it is highly likely that all of the victims in the case will be greatly lost by their loved ones.
