Do you remember taking your first driver's license exam and road test? Do you remember if you were nervous? The worst nervous driver's test mistake of getting into a car accident was committed Wednesday afternoon at a license exam center in Collier, Pennsylvania. Almost immediately after completing the road test of his driver's exam, a 34-year-old man smashed his car through the glass doors of the license exam center with the instructor still in the passenger seat.
After finishing the road test, the man drove into a parking space outside the test center and thought he had put the car in park. A local police sergeant said, "He thought he had it in park but he didn't." When the driver took his foot off of the brake, the car hopped the curb. According to the police sergeant, "He panicked and hit the accelerator, and went through the front." There were 10 people in the waiting area of the building when the car careened into it.
Flying glass hit the floor as bewildered exam center customers yelled in reaction. Emergency services were called in response to the car accident. There were not any serious injuries; however, two people were taken to hospitals for medical review. Though unnerved by the event, the driver and instructor did not suffer any injuries. A set of tire marks delineated the car's path.
In reaction to the crash, an 18-year-old bystander who was waiting to take his exam said the scene was "pretty crazy" and that he was scared for the people next to the building's door. Afterwards, the driver apologized continuously for his mistake and the police sergeant said he would rule it an accident. Because of the crash the man did not pass his driver's test.
