Driver injured when garbage can is thrown at car on I-79

Very few people in the state of Pennsylvania are interested in actually causing a car accident of any magnitude. In fact, most do what they can to make sure the actions they are taking do not result in any harm to anyone else. There are however, a few people throughout the nation who, for whatever reason, do not seem concerned with the well being of others. One of those individuals from the latter group recently struck in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania.

According to police, an unknown person stole a 50-gallon garbage can full of refuse that he or she then threw onto a car traveling on Interstate 79, from an overpass above. The garbage can struck a car that was driven by a woman who was then injured. At the time of the incident, the woman was reportedly driving at least 60 miles per hour.

When the can struck the woman's car, her vehicle sustained damage to its windshield and roof. Though the woman somehow managed to make it to the next exit on the road to contact emergency services, she was nonetheless injured. In addition to suffering a concussion, bruises and cuts, she had to have glass from her windshield removed from her eyes.

Should the person responsible for this horrible act be found, it is almost certain that he or she will face criminal charges of some sort. Because the woman who was occupying the vehicle that was struck was also injured, it makes sense that she would follow-up with a civil personal injury lawsuit to obtain financial damages.
