We are proud to announce that our firm is partnering with the New Castle Community YMCA to offer free swim instruction and water safety classes to our local school children. Students in grades second through fourth are eligible to participate in the Learn to Swim program at the New Castle YMCA, including those who are homeschooled. Districts currently participating in the program are Laurel, New Castle Christian Academy, Neshannock, Mohawk, Shenango and Union.

The Centers for Disease Control statistics show that approximately 20% of the people who die from drowning are children under the age of 15.   Nonfatal submersion injuries, resulting in emergency department care, occur at five times the rate of drowning.

Students enrolled in the YMCA’s Learn to Swim program will take part in a pre-assessment to determine his or her skill level prior to the start of classes. Children of similar skill levels will be grouped together and receive instruction in small groups.

We want to help save lives by ensuring that children are equipped with basic swimming skills,” said Dallas Hartman.   “We are happy to be a part of such an important program and look to the future with hope that fewer of our children will become victims of drowning.”

Our donation of over $26,000 will fund the program for this year and help over 600 children.
