In past posts, this blog detailed the horrific end to one Ohio 14-year-old girl's life. She has cerebral palsy and was grossly neglected by her mother and the nurses that were supposed to care for her. Upon starving to death, she has several bed sores and weighed only 28 feeble pounds.

While the three nurses going to court for charges related to nursing neglect have pleaded not guilty and are still awaiting trial, justice has begun to show. The mother was recently sentence to 9 years in prison by an Ohio court for involuntary manslaughter and endangering children. The three nurses are facing a collection of charges including involuntary manslaughter, tampering with records, failing to report child abuse or neglect and failing to provide for a functionally impaired person.

The father, who did not live with the child and mother, is devastated that his daughter met such a painful end. It was previously reported that he is also looking to take civil action through filing a wrongful death claim as a means of seeking recompense for his severe pain and suffering. The anguish of learning that your daughter starved to death is utterly unimaginable.

Nurses have a duty to care for the sick. When they fail to uphold such a duty, consequences are in order. More details to come on the outcome of the litigation surrounding the charges of nursing neglect facing the three Ohio nurses in connection with this case.
