Though snow is still covering much of the ground throughout the Pittsburgh area, there are nonetheless those who are starting to prepare for the change in seasons and the outdoor chores that come with it. Individuals who take care of the landscaping at their homes need to be aware of a recent recall. The defective product that was recalled is a grass trimmer made by Honda.
According to recall information released by Honda and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the defect takes the form of a shaft that may crack creating the risk of lacerations for both those using the equipment as well as those around the person using it. While so far no reports of injuries have been reported, 11 instances of the shaft cracking or breaking off have been reported.
Around 14,000 of the gas powered trimmers have been sold throughout the country starting in May 2006, and continuing until their recall last month. They were available both through retailers and online. Anyone who thinks they may be in possession of one of these trimmers should check the model number. If it is HHT35SUKAT, they should not use the piece of equipment. Instead they should contact a Honda Power Equipment dealer so that the trimmer can be inspected and if necessary, repaired.
It is important to consumers throughout the country that they products they purchase with their hard-earned money are not dangerous. When such products are discovered, it is vital that the consumer is made aware in a prompt fashion so that injuries can be avoided.
